The metabolism of chrysene: the isolation of 3-methoxychrysene by methylation of the phenolic metabolite of chrysene from rat faeces.

چکیده
As a result of the work of Levvy et al. (1948), it is no longer necessary to postulate a synthetic role for fl-glucuronidase in the body (Fishman, 1940) in order to explain the changes in the activity of the enzyme which can be produced in various organs. The view that ,B-glucuronidase is not involved in glucuronide synthesis (Levvy, 1948) receives support from the failure of saccharic acid to influence formation of o-aminophenylglucuronide bymouse-liver slices, and of f-glucuronidase preparations to effect condensation of glucuronic acid with o-aminophenol. Certain sex hormones are known to be excreted as glucuronides. The effect of administering saccharic acid on the metabolism of these compounds might repay investigation.

Occurrence and Distribution of Chrysene and its Derivatives in Crude Oils and Source Rock Extracts from Niger Delta, Nigeria
Crude oils and source rocks from the northern and offshore Niger Delta basin, Nigeria, have been characterized by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry in terms of their origin and thermal maturity based on the distribution of chrysene and its derivatives. The crude oils and source rocks were characterized by the dominance of chrysene over benzo[a]anthracene. 3-methylchrysene predominated over o...
متن کاملMetabolism of chrysene by brown bullhead liver microsomes.
We have investigated the regio- and stereoselective metabolism of chrysene, a four-ring symmetrical carcinogenic polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH), by the liver microsomes of brown bullhead (Ameriurus nebulosus), a bottom-dwelling fish species. The liver microsomes from untreated and 3-methylcholanthrene (3-MC)-treated brown bullheads metabolized chrysene at the rate of 30.1 and 82.2 pmol/m...

nogenic activity (4). Chrysene, which has one more benzene ring than does phenanthrene, is a symmetrical molecule with 2 identical bay regions (Chart 1). Chrysene has weak activity in carcinogenicity tests (4, 11). Quantum mechanical aspects of the bay region theory predict (6) that bay-region 1,2-diol 3,4-epoxides of chrysene and phenanthrene should have sim ilar chemical reactivities. Kinetic...

The tumor-initiating activities of chrysene and the three metabolically possible trans-dihydrodiols at the 1,2-, 3,4-, and 5,6-positions of chyrsene were determined on the skin of female CD-1 mice. A single topical application of 0.4, 1.25, or 4.0 mumol of each compound was followed 7 days later by twice-weekly applications of the tumor promoter 12-O-tetradecanoylphorbol-13-acetate for 25 weeks...
متن کاملComparative metabolism of chrysene and 5-methylchrysene by rat and rainbow trout liver microsomes.
We have investigated the metabolism of chrysene (CHR) and 5-methychyrsene (5-MeCHR) by Shasta rainbow trout (Oncorhyncus mykiss) and Long Evans rat liver microsomes to assess the effect of a non-benzo ring methyl substituent on the reactions involved in the metabolism of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). Trout as well as rat liver microsomes metabolized both CHR and 5-MeCHR at essentiall...
